Seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Field Data Specialist to join our team Norton, MA. This role involves collecting and documenting field data to support utility design, engineering, and infrastructure projects. You’ll work hands-on in the field using a variety of tools and technologies to help create accurate, up-to-date records and support our engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Data Collection
- Collect field data at utility and infrastructure sites.
- Use paper forms, digital devices, GPS units, cameras, and data loggers to document field conditions.
Measurement & Documentation
- Accurately measure and record equipment dimensions and field features.
- Create clear and accurate “as-built” documentation using standard symbols and practices.
Field Support & Reconnaissance
- Assist with field mapping, staking, inventory, and photography.
- Support senior engineering and technical staff with on-site reconnaissance tasks.
Technology Use
- Learn and operate field tools such as laser range finders, angle finders, GPS receivers, and handheld data loggers.
Identification & Recognition
- Accurately identify utility equipment and infrastructure components with minimal supervision.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Travel as needed to support projects in surrounding areas.
- Meet production targets and project deadlines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training a plus.
- Prior field experience or background in utilities, surveying, or construction preferred.
- Comfortable using measurement tools and basic technology in the field.
- Reliable vehicle to travel to job sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
