Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee and ensure the health, safety, and regulatory compliance of all on-site construction activities. This critical role involves performing routine safety inspections, identifying and mitigating hazards, conducting training sessions, and fostering a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA standards and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and company guidelines. Conduct regular safety audits and ensure corrective measures are implemented.

Perform daily site walkthroughs to identify hazards and unsafe practices. Document findings, implement corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.

Conduct new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and routine safety meetings. Train staff on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols for operating equipment.

Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Perform root cause analyses and prepare detailed reports with actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans. Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and lead periodic drills.

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance documentation.

Act as the primary point of contact for all site safety-related matters. Promote a proactive safety culture among all employees and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED (required)

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required)

First Aid/CPR Certification (required)

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field, OSHA 500, CSP, CHST
Experience:

2-5 years of relevant experience in construction safety

In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards

Experience in conducting safety audits, training, and incident investigations
Skills:

Strong communication and leadership abilities

Excellent hazard recognition and problem-solving skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software
Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Capable of walking or standing for long periods

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate construction environments safely
Working Conditions

Work conducted on active outdoor construction sites
