Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee and ensure the health, safety, and regulatory compliance of all on-site construction activities. This critical role involves performing routine safety inspections, identifying and mitigating hazards, conducting training sessions, and fostering a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA standards and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and company guidelines. Conduct regular safety audits and ensure corrective measures are implemented.

  • Perform daily site walkthroughs to identify hazards and unsafe practices. Document findings, implement corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.

  • Conduct new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and routine safety meetings. Train staff on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols for operating equipment.

  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Perform root cause analyses and prepare detailed reports with actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.

  • Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans. Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and lead periodic drills.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance documentation.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all site safety-related matters. Promote a proactive safety culture among all employees and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required)

  • First Aid/CPR Certification (required)

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field, OSHA 500, CSP, CHST

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in construction safety

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards

  • Experience in conducting safety audits, training, and incident investigations

Skills:

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities

  • Excellent hazard recognition and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Capable of walking or standing for long periods

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate construction environments safely

Working Conditions

  • Work conducted on active outdoor construction sites

  • PPE provided and required at all times

  • Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines
