About the Opportunity
Lead a premier surgical department at a 250+ bed acute care facility recognized for excellence in heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction care, and colorectal surgery.
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will oversee the strategic and operational management of a high-volume surgical department, including 11 Operating Rooms and 2 Endoscopy Suites performing approximately 400 cases per month. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, you will drive clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient experience across multiple surgical service lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Manage 125–150 FTEs and 4 direct-report Managers across service lines including General, Bariatric, Colorectal, Heart & Vascular, Ortho/Spine, and Urology.
- Clinical Quality: Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Service Excellence: Lead initiatives to elevate patient experience and maintain the facility’s reputation as a surgical care leader.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee annual budgets, monitor revenue and expenses, and optimize labor management and productivity.
- Growth & Innovation: Collaborate with physicians and administrative teams to expand services and adopt technological advancements.
- People Development: Foster a culture of accountability and engagement; attract, develop, and retain top clinical talent through coaching and mentorship.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 1+ year as a Director of Surgical Services in an acute care setting
- Clinical Experience: 3+ years in acute care Surgical Services
- Commitment: Strong adherence to professional ethics and organizational mission/values
