Job Description

Join a dynamic team responsible for the mixing and blending of materials, paint matching, and operation of process equipment within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role involves monitoring plant equipment and process conditions using various instruments, gauges, and meters, as well as unloading rail cars and tank wagons. You will also operate a forklift to stage materials, ensure products are made according to standard manufacturing orders, and complete production and quality control reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Mix and blend materials and match paint colors.
  • Operate process equipment and monitor performance using instruments, gauges, and meters.
  • Unload rail cars and tank wagons.
  • Stage materials using a forklift.
  • Ensure products are made correctly according to standard manufacturing orders.
  • Complete production reporting and quality control reporting promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  • Perform quality control analysis during manufacturing steps, including drawing samples for laboratory testing.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain an understanding and awareness of chemical hazards and safety issues.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in chemical production, mixing, batching, compounding, granulation batching, and multi-phase batching (2 years preferred for each).
  • Ability to add, subtract, and perform weight conversions.
  • Knowledge of chemicals, including flammables.

  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Ability to interact well with others.
  • Proficiency in operating basic hand tools.
  • Physical ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.
  • Capability to perform strenuous physical work, such as climbing and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy drums weighing 440+ lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.

Work Environment

This role is within a non-climate-controlled chemical manufacturing plant, requiring 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 48-hour workweek. Openings are available on the first shift (Monday-Thursday, 7 am-7 pm) and second shift (Monday-Thursday, 7 pm-7 am), with training provided on the respective shift. Occasional mandatory or voluntary 8-hour shifts on Fridays. Dress code includes safety shoes, a fire-resistant uniform, and 100% cotton clothing underneath. Training consists of a 4-8 week period, including an 8-hour safety course. Each shift includes a team of four chemical compounders and a team lead.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
