Position Summary:

Kahak Health Care Services (KHCS) is seeking compassionate and dependable Home Health Aides (HHAs) to provide essential personal care and daily living support to clients in their homes in Washington, DC. The HHA will assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensure the safety and comfort of clients, and support their independence and well-being under the direction of a registered nurse or case manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Support mobility, including transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility aids.
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and monitoring nutritional intake.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties (e.g., laundry, tidying, dishwashing).
  • Monitor and report changes in clients health status, behavior, or environment to the supervising nurse or care coordinator.
  • Remind clients to take medications (as directed and not administered).
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful engagement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
  • Comply with all applicable local and federal health regulations, and agency policies.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Home Health Aide Certification (DC HHA certification).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (must be current).
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in home care or a related healthcare setting preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow care plans in English.
  • Must be compassionate, dependable, and respectful of client privacy and dignity.
  • Physical ability to assist clients with mobility and perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and TB test.
  • Valid drivers license or access to reliable transportation (if travel between clients is required).

Work Environment:

  • This role requires travel to client homes within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
