We are seeking a QMHP-A to join our team! You will provide recovery-oriented rehabilitation services in group or individual settings.

Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Department: Mental Health Skill-Building (MHSB) Services
Reports To: Program Director / Clinical Supervisor

Position Summary

The QMHP-A provides community-based Mental Health Skill-Building services to adults with serious mental illness. This position focuses on teaching essential life skills, promoting independence, and supporting individuals in achieving community stability. The ideal candidate is professional, reliable, and passionate about empowering clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct MHSB services in client homes and community settings.

  • Teach skills related to daily living, medication management, budgeting, coping strategies, safety, and social functioning.

  • Complete assessments, develop Individual Service Plans (ISPs), and maintain accurate progress notes.

  • Ensure documentation complies with DBHDS and Medicaid standards.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and other care providers to support continuity of care.

  • Respond to crises appropriately while maintaining safety and professionalism.

  • Maintain consistent caseload and timely reporting requirements.

  • Attend trainings, supervision, and staff meetings as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Must meet DBHDS criteria for QMHP-A, including:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Services or a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Human Development, etc.).

  • Certification as a QMHP-A through the Virginia Board of Counseling (or eligibility with documentation in progress).

  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience working with adults with mental health diagnoses (required).

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Clean criminal background check, including:

    • No barrier crimes

    • Clean CPS and fingerprint-based background check

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, maintain boundaries, and follow Medicaid regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mental Health Skill-Building or community-based mental health services.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid documentation requirements.

  • Crisis intervention or de-escalation training.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Community-based position requiring travel to client homes and neighborhoods.

  • Flexible schedule to meet client needs, including possible evenings or weekends.

This includes recovery-oriented psychosocial rehabilitation services to consumers ages 18 and up with long term, sever psychiatric disabilities. To include skills training and assistance in accessing and utilizing all services and supports available that are essential to meeting the needs identified in the ISP. This service will be provided in any safe setting as long as it addresses the consumer's needs.
