PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the Production Manager. It consists of assembling light-weight components for veterinary diagnostic test kits; quality control of some components and/or kits; and assisting in shipping.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble test kits, including:
    • Count and bag kit components (pipettes, stirrers, cards)
    • Edit, print and apply labels to components and kit boxes
    • Copy and fold materials (inserts, identifier, etc.)
    • Inspect empty tubes, fill tube racks, cap tubes
    • Inspect and label test cards
    • Bottle, cap and label kit reagents (non-toxic)
    • Inspect filled tubes and place into kit inserts
    • Fold kit boxes and box inserts
    • Fold and tape shipping boxes
    • Quality control of various components and assembled kits
  • Package kits for shipment; apply proper shipping label and packing slip
  • Help maintain inventory of kits and components
  • Prepare purchase orders as needed and submit electronically
  • Receive supply shipments; unbox and place in designated areas
  • Clean work area daily; sweep work area and empty trash as needed/weekly
  • Such other duties as may be required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Attention to detail is critical as components can be confusing
  • Ability to distinguish components by color
  • Fluency in English
  • Able to read fine print
  • Computer literate (will train on label maker software)
  • Ability to use a heat sealer, pipet, scales, and pH meter (will train)
  • Physical activities frequently include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, walking, and reaching above shoulder height and below waist
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds independently and 50 pounds with help to above waist level

HOURS

  • 20 to 25 hours per week

BENEFITS

STARTING SALARY

$15 to $17 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
