Job Description

About Us

We are a leading integrated creative agency based in Houston, Texas. Our clients include Fortune 50 brands you’ve definitely heard of, startups you haven’t heard of yet, and a whole bunch in the middle. And they work in industries that run the gamut from upstream energy and enterprise technology to pediatric medicine and craft beer (note that the last two have little/no overlap). As a team, we’re committed to delivering high-impact, creative, data-informed marketing and advertising.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a talented, versatile Content Writer/Copywriter to join our Content Services team. You’ll be charged with writing creative, engaging, conceptually strong content that helps drive our clients’ business forward. That means that in addition to being creative, your work needs to be effective. So you’ll work in collaboration with creative directors, strategists, digital marketers, developers, and others to create and deliver content that drives engagement, inspires action, and builds brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write persuasive, effective content for ads, collateral, websites, videos, presentations, social media, and more. Some specifics include:

-Social Media: You’ll develop content and creative concepts for paid and organic social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok, etc.) focusing on creative brand storytelling, thought leadership, and the engagement of restless, fickle audiences.

-Video: Help develop concepts and write compelling scripts/treatments for a variety of video projects, from creative brand storytelling and promotional campaigns to engaging instructional content and dynamic social video. Work closely with design and video production teams to bring bold ideas to full-motion life.

-Brand Activation: Support event marketing efforts by creating promotional materials, event descriptions, branded experiences, and scripts for live events or activations. Guerilla? Gorilla? OK.

-Web content: Develop compelling, succinct, SEO-optimized web copy — appealing to algorithms, spiders, and real humans alike.

  • Editing and Proofreading: Review and refine content to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar, and adherence to client brand guidelines and industry standards (AP, Chicago Manual of Style, others).
  • Brand Fluency: We create them. We also abide by them. You’ll need a chameleon’s ability to maintain distinctive, consistent tone and voice for multiple clients with varying standards and styles and divergent audiences.
  • Subject-Matter Research: You’ll need to develop expertise in industries you might not even know exist — learning about the trends, audiences, competition and markets you’ll need to communicate to, within, and about.
  • Creative Collaboration: No wallflowers. You’ll work with (and occasionally wrassle) other writers, designers, strategists, account executives, and clients to drive great work and ensure creative integrity and coherence.
  • Presentation: Again, no wallflowers. You’ll learn to confidently present concepts and written work to clients and internal teams, articulating the merits and value of creative work and explaining why you’ve done what you did.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two or more years in content writing, copywriting, or a similar role (agency experience preferred).
  • Creativity: We look for the ability to find inventive and effective ways to tell stories, solve problems, and capture attention and imagination. In the face of challenging projects, you should bring interesting perspectives, the ability to think differently, and the willingness to get excited about great ideas: yours and others’.
  • Versatility: Your portfolio should showcase diverse writing styles, industries, and channels, including social media, video, and digital marketing. Please don’t come with typos or malapropisms or sloppy syntax — unless you can persuade us you meant to do it like that, and it really works.
  • Discipline: You should be proactive, organized, and flexible, with excellent organizational and time-management skills. You’ll need to face tight deadlines without (much) fear and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical Proficiency: You should have familiarity with Windows PCs and Microsoft 365; experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Confluence are a plus. You should have, or be ready to quickly develop, confidence in AP and Chicago styles. You should have comfort with emerging tools such as generative AI, using them to enhance ideation and efficiency while exercising good judgment to know when to rely on them — and when not to.

Benefits

  • fun-loving and casual team environment
  • competitive salary
  • internal promotion strategy
  • excellent benefits, including
    • a discretionary bonus plan
    • 401(k) plan
    • full employee health coverage
    • a generous paid time off policy
