Frost Brown Todd LLP, a national law firm with over 1,000 legal and business professionals across eighteen offices, is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to join our team. The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the firm’s communications strategy, with a focus on enhancing the firm’s brand visibility and reputation across national platforms. This role will focus on media relations, internal and external messaging, and attorney thought leadership.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, results-driven professional with a deep understanding of the media landscape and a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media pitches, and attorney-authored content.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with legal, business, and mainstream media outlets and maintain the firm's media list to ensure up-to-date records of journalist contacts and outreach efforts.
  • Support attorneys with media training, talking points, and interview preparation.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide analytics and reporting on PR performance.
  • Liaise with external PR agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure message consistency.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments on submissions for key legal directories, publications, and other rankings and awards that support increased visibility and recognition for the firm and its attorneys.
  • Collaborate with BD team and firm department contacts to develop and implement targeted PR campaigns aligned with specific practice groups, industries, or firm initiatives.
  • Leverage existing content and work with other department team members to identify opportunities to further communicate the firm’s capabilities and achievements.
  • Write, edit, and proofread firm announcements, alerts, articles, press releases, website content, and other marketing-related communications.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in digital technologies and act proactively to use those tools to continue advancing our communications efforts.
  • Ensure all communications comply with legal industry regulations, the firm’s style guide and ethical standards.
  • Work closely with other departments

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a public relations position required.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly desired.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with firm colleagues and external contacts.
  • Proven experience in creating and managing content, including social media, blogging, etc., with a clear understanding of how various platforms fit into a corporate environment.
  • Experience with CRM, Foundation, PR tools (e.g. Cision) is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and strong planning skills to meet deadlines and deliver quality results.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate courteously and tactfully via e-mail, telephone, and in person.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to make decisions and adapt to changing work situations and must be able to grasp and apply new ideas.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and take on various assignments to help meet department goals.

The pay range for this role accounts for the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. For applicants physically based in California, a reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $78,000 - $95,0000. For applicants physically based in Denver, a reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $74,000 - $89,000. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.
