Overview

Ranor, Inc is a large-scale fabrication and machining supplier. Our current focus is on defense related products in support of Navy submarine components.

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector with strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to support precision machining and inspection processes for submarine and defense-related components. The Technician will inspect machined parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer specifications, perform documentation, and assist in maintaining quality standards in a regulated environment.

2nd Shift - 3:00PM to 1:00AM

Duties include:

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of complex machined parts using precision measuring tools. (CMM knowledge a plus but not required)
  • Interpret and apply GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5 to inspect features and tolerances accurately.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints.
  • Conduct visual inspections and dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, surface plates, and other metrology tools.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with company and customer requirements (e.g., FAIRs, inspection reports, NCRs).
  • Identify and report non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality team to resolve issues and maintain compliance.
  • Maintain calibration of inspection equipment and ensure clean and organized workspaces.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols, especially when working on defense contracts or ITAR-controlled parts.

Qualifications required:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical school or associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Expertise in tight-tolerance machining for defense applications.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard inspection tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or MIL-STD requirements.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for government defense contracts and ITAR compliance).
