The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for overseeing all professional-fee revenue cycle activities across ID Care’s multi-site ambulatory practice, with a focus on optimizing collections, improving operational performance, and supporting the financial sustainability of the organization. This role partners closely with clinical, operational, and finance leadership to ensure revenue cycle processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with practice growth.

The Director will have end-to-end oversight of practice revenue cycle operations, including front-end processes (registration, eligibility, authorizations), clinical documentation, coding, charge capture, billing, collections, and denial management. This role will routinely evaluate workflows, work queues, and performance metrics to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, while driving accountability across teams.

Key Areas of Oversight:

1. Patient registration, eligibility, and financial clearance

2. Provider documentation and charge capture workflows

3. Professional coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and claim submission

4. Denials management, appeals, and payer follow-up

5. Self-pay collections and bad debt management

6. Credentialing and enrollment impacts on revenue

7. Revenue integrity, charge lag, and claim edit management

The Director will actively monitor and report on key performance indicators, including but not limited to charge lag, gross and net collection rates, denial rates, self-pay performance, payer edit trends, and enrollment-related revenue impacts.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Define and execute revenue cycle strategy aligned with ID Care’s operational and financial goals.

  • Evaluate current systems, workflows, and staffing models; implement improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and collections.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations impacting professional billing, collections, and payer requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance and Credentialing teams on regulatory, enrollment, and payer-specific matters affecting revenue
  • Proactively identify revenue risks and advise leadership on corrective actions
  • Serve as escalation point for complex payer, billing, and collection issues
  • Develop strong working relationships with payers and health plans to improve resolution timelines and reimbursement outcomes
  • Oversee revenue cycle reporting and analytics; translate data into actionable insights for leadership and operations
  • Support external audits, payer reviews, and special reporting requirements as needed
  • Prepare annual staffing plans and operating budgets for revenue cycle functions; manage departmental expenses within approved budgets
  • Lead, mentor, and hold revenue cycle leadership and staff accountable for performance and outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Supervisory Responsibilities: Accounts Receivable Supervisor, Billing Specialist Supervisor, Coding Educator and Auditor, and PSR Supervisor

Skills & Abilities:

1. 7+ years of experience in professional revenue cycle operations within a healthcare practice setting

2. Deep understanding of front-end workflows, billing, coding, and denial management

3. Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and payer behavior

4. Working knowledge of eClinical Works and Epic RCM. Preference with Epic RCM.

5. Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.

6. Experience analyzing financial and operational data to drive process improvement

7. Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change and performance improvement initiatives

8. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage physicians, leadership, and staff

9. High level of comfort operating in a fast-paced, multi-site practice environment

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree with focus in Business or Healthcare Administration required. MBA or MHA preferred.

2. Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle.

3. Strong background in professional-fee (ambulatory / physician practice) revenue cycle operations

4. Strong knowledge of front, middle, and back-end revenue cycle processes and best practices.

5. Experience with data analytics, KPI tracking, and business intelligence tools

Performance Expectations:

This position works closely with Practice Operations leadership, Finance, IT/Systems, Compliance, and Clinical leadership to ensure alignment between operational realities and financial outcomes. The Director will serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and physicians on revenue cycle performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.

The role requires strong partnership with external vendors, clearinghouses, and payers, as well as internal billing, coding, and front-end teams, to ensure issues are addressed proactively and sustainably.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machine, scanners, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment: This position primarily functions in an office environment. Local travel will be necessary to visit ID CARE sites, for meetings, and to perform other duties as assigned.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Involves looking at a computer monitor for up to 8 hours per day. Occasional lifting of office supplies under 15 pounds.

Other Requirements:

1.Influenza: All employees of ID Care shall be provided the influence vaccine. Employees will be required to obtain the influenza vaccine by December 1 of each calendar year.

2. Effective 2/1/2024,

  • Anyone who received the covid vaccination after September 11, 2023, meets requirements with 1 dose of covid vaccine.
  • Anyone who received the covid vaccination prior to September 11, 2023, will require 2 doses of covid vaccine.

3. MMR: If born in 1957 or later, employees must provide serologic evidence of immunity or documentation of 2 MMR vaccinations. If an employee requires a measles antibody titer, s/he may have it drawn at ID Care. If non-immune, ID Care will provide the vaccination.

4. Varicella: Employees must provide serologic evidence of immunity, prior vaccination, or history of varicella disease. If an employee requires a varicella antibody titer, s/he may have it drawn at ID Care. If an employee is non-immune, ID Care will provide the vaccination.

5. Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis: Employees must provide documentation of a one-time dose of Tdap to assure immunity to pertussis. If there is no history of Tdap, ID Care will provide the vaccination. Tdap vaccine must be updated every 10 years.

6. PPD: Employees must have an appropriate screening test for tuberculosis. This can be accomplished by a chest X-ray or a Quantiferon test within 7 days of employment.

New ID Care employees and anyone on a deferral are required to meet the requirements of the policy as soon as possible after starting employment or following the end of the deferral.
