The Casino Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This role ensures that public areas, restrooms, offices, and high-traffic zones remain spotless, sanitized, and in compliance with health and safety standards. The Casino Housekeeper plays a vital role in upholding cleanliness and contributes to a positive guest experience through attention to detail and consistent performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general cleaning duties in all casino public areas, restrooms, offices, and back-of-house areas.
- Ensures the proper use of chemicals, cleaning solutions, and equipment according to manufacturer and OSHA guidelines.
- Cleans slot machines, counters, restrooms, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Collects trash, empties and cleans ashtrays, replaces liners, and transports waste to proper disposal areas.
- Operates vacuums, sweepers, and other custodial tools and maintains them in clean working order.
- Conducts routine walk-throughs to identify cleanliness issues or hazards and reports conditions to supervisor.
- Assists with cleaning during and after special events and provides support with crew coordination as needed.
- Follows all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a hazard-free working environment.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and adherence to guest service standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and basic sanitation protocols.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with guests, team members, and leadership.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to guest service standards.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping, custodial services, or janitorial work required.
- Experience working in a casino, hotel, or large public facility preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and safety procedures required.
- Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment and maintain supply inventory accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with guests, coworkers, and supervisors in person or via radio.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and arms to operate vacuums, mops, and other cleaning tools; may be required to handle small items or perform detail cleaning.
- Mobility: Constantly walks, stands, bends, kneels, reaches, and climbs stairs throughout shift while cleaning assigned areas.
- Stationary Work: Frequently moves throughout the property; work is primarily active and physically demanding with minimal stationary tasks.
- Tool Operation: Operates housekeeping tools and equipment including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carts.
- Visual Acuity: Must be able to visually inspect areas for cleanliness, spot debris, and ensure quality of work.
- Working Conditions: Regularly works in casino, restrooms, and public areas with exposure to cleaning chemicals, wet or slippery surfaces, moderate to high noise levels, and a smoking environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
