Job Summary

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient set up and operation of the brake press to ensure quality parts are produced to print, within established production standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be reliable, cooperative, with high attention to detail, and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Set up machine by selecting proper program and tooling, adjust programming as needed.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret bills of materials and routings.
  • Position material in machine and perform operation to achieve desired result.
  • Perform finish grinding, sanding, or other finishing operation.
  • Examine and inspect finished parts with a variety of precision measuring instruments, recognize non-conforming parts.
  • Monitor work assignments and communicate any concerns or issues with lead.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Lift up to 75 pounds, occasionally maneuver through pushing or pulling greater than 75 pounds. Regular reaching overhead and at or below shoulder level, with gross and fine manipulation of hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Climate-controlled building. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels in the work environment are usually loud.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in metal fabrication.
