Position Description
IIF is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for leading media relations and social media strategy, while supporting coordinated communications across IIF departments to amplify the IIF’s research, analysis, and events. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and manage press relationships.
- Support and advise the CEO and executive team on communications that will best support the IIF’s strategic objectives.
- Serve as a key point of contact and partner for IIF member communications teams.
- Collaborate across departments to set communication goals and help ensure a consistent brand voice for research and publications on the IIF website.
- Lead the creation and distribution of press releases, public statements, and media notifications.
- Support media outreach through drafting and pitching interviews, and op-eds.
- Organize media interviews and oversee logistics such as venue access, technical setup, and preparation.
- Track media coverage and analyze metrics to assess IIF’s public visibility.
- Oversee strategy and content for IIF social media channels.
- Monitor and enhance IIF’s digital engagement/presence, including tracking staff contributions and following key external accounts.
- Oversee the production and editing of video and graphic content to support IIF’s communications strategy.
- Coordinate media outreach for IIF events, including press invitations, registrations, and live social media coverage.
- Leverage AI to create efficiencies in external communications efforts
- Manage the activities of the communications team to support the above objectives.
Requirements
- College degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience related to the implementation of a corporate communications or public affairs strategy in the financial services industry. Agency or journalism experience is preferred.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database software.
- Command of the issues facing the global financial services industry.
- Established connections with financial services media and journalists preferred.
- Experience with managing personnel
- Strong command of the English language and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Personal attributes such as a high degree of professionalism, strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to communicate and act with tact, judgment, and energy are also required.
Work Environment
IIF is pleased to provide its staff with a hybrid work environment: staff members are currently required to work in the office in Washington, DC, Tuesdays through Thursdays but have the option of working remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

To help you recharge, you will receive 15 days (prorated based on hire date) for annual leave and 1.25 days per month for sick leave (which is the equivalent of 3 weeks each per year).
