Advancement Director

Full-Time Exempt

Position Description

Lee Pesky Learning Center (LPLC) is a highly-respected education nonprofit that changes lives and learning trajectories of students who face obstacles to learning. We empower children, youth,and young adults through provision of research-based academic and clinical services designed to empower learners with the tools needed to succeed in school and in life. We currently seek a talented, hard-working Advancement Director to take our fundraising to the next level. LPLCs Advancement Director is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive advancement program that builds brand awareness of our life-transforming educational and clinical services, deepens donor engagement, and creates long-term philanthropic sustainability for the organzation.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer a comprehensive advancement program
    • Implement previously identified strategies for LPLC advancement (fundraising, PR, and marketing) to support long term sustainability and fulfill immediate needs
    • Serve as public representative of the organization to include cultivating relationships with community members, including prospective volunteers and supporters, to build awareness of and commitment to LPLCs work
    • Serve on the Board Advancement Committee and Staff Leadership Team
    • Manage expense budgets for all fundraising, communication, and marketing efforts
    • Build upon LPLCs multi-year relationships with high-level donors
    • Increase support for our planned giving program
    • Oversee highly-successful annual fundraising event.
  • Build fundraising revenue
    • Refine LPLCs annual fundraising plan
    • Implement planned giving strategy and recognize planned gifts recently secured
    • Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
    • Oversee the maintenance and expansion of the LPC database of supporters (utilizing DonorPerfect software) and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
  • Work collaboratively with ED and Leadership Team
    • Improve communication across various audiences
    • Monitor adherence to branding guidelines and create mass communications pieces such as the annual report, quarterly eNewsletters, appeal collateral etc.
    • Manage media and public relations to promote LPLCs programs
    • Oversee current social media communications and make improvements
    • Oversee updates to website
    • Collaborate to write small to mid-size grant proposals

    • Fundraising strategies and software (DonorPerfect preferred) and tools needed to manage donations and campaigns
    • Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint) and basic HTML editing
    • Social media platforms and best practices
    • Mass e-mail marketing platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent
  • Work Experience: Three years in fundraising and/or public relations to include:
    • Proven track record of raising funds from diverse sources (including major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies)
    • Knowledge of and connections to funding communities
    • Marketing experience (preferred)

Working Environment & Physical Requirements
