The Jefferson Center Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacy Manager will provide leadership over all Jefferson Center pharmacy and pharmaceutical related issues. Oversee all JCMH-owned pharmacies and maintain compliance with all state and federal guidelines, and effective and efficient business operations.
Jefferson Center is a large community mental health center and a comprehensive safety net provider. Jefferson Center owns and operates Blue Spruce pharmacy at two locations. We primarily serve our clients but are also open to the public.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Colorado State Board of Pharmacy License and Pharmacy Degree (BS-Pharmacy/PharmD).
- Must have at least 3 years supervisory and management experience in retail pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- APhA Diabetes management certification
- APhA Immunization Certified or Willingness to Obtain
- Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) or Willingness to Obtain
- Experience with Residential Facilities, Alternative Care Facilities, and LTC in Home
- Experience with pharmacy service administration organizations and wholesaler purchasing contracts
- 340B experience
- Collaborative practice agreements experience
Essential Duties:
- Supervise the Manager of Pharmacy and provide additional oversight for all pharmacy department pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Serve as the designated manager for one of the pharmacy sites, and manage pharmacy department employees staffing, scheduling, and address employee feedback.
- Facilitate the development of pharmacy programs that support the mission of Jefferson Center, enhance quality of care, and are financially sustainable.
- Assist Jefferson Center residential facilities with all pharmacy and medication related needs.
- Manage the pharmacy department financial details including drug purchasing contracts, appropriate inventory levels, pharmacy equipment, and labor.
- Maintain third party network contracts and ensure Fraud, Waste Abuse (FWA) compliance training for government programs.
- Nurture an attitude of service, hard work, respect, and accountability within the pharmacy department.
- Advocate for Community Mental Health pharmacy needs and areas for growth.
- Keep pharmacy department policies, procedures, and best practices current for all pharmacy operations.
- Ensure Colorado State Board of Pharmacy, DEA and HIPPA privacy compliance within entire pharmacy department.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil codes.
- Increase knowledge and maintain current medication information.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
- Consult with patients and staff regarding possible side effects of medications, proper administration of medications, potential drug/food or drug/drug interactions.
- Consult with the prescribers on matters affecting appropriateness of drug therapy.
- Administer immunizations under defined protocols.
- Provide direct patient clinical services using billable collaborative practice agreements including patient coaching services and medication therapy management.
- Maintain all licenses pertaining to the pharmacy, including State of Colorado pharmacy license and DEA license.
- Maintain all contracts including Medicaid/insurance provider contracts, and wholesaler/manufacturers contracts. Evaluate and enroll in new contracts when appropriate.
- Maintain and establish (as needed) policies and procedures for daily operation of the pharmacy; oversee business and financial transactions, including cash register, Medicaid/third-party payor remittance, maintaining inventory and prescription billing charges.
- Complete all required training and regular continuing education and stay updated in the field of pharmacy.
- Provide leadership, consultation and training Center-wide around issues related to pharmaceuticals, policies and procedures, adverse events and medication errors.
- Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of retraumatization. (Specifically for front line staff).
- As required, participate in the center’s training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery.
- Ensure that interactions with clients and other Jefferson center employees supports the principles of trauma informed care.
Other Duties:
- Maintain effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, management, visitors, and the general public
- Effectively respond to consumer needs and problems, initiate and maintain positive interactions, and provide timely response to phone calls, pages, email and other requests
- Works cooperatively with other community agencies, pharmacies, suppliers, insurance companies
- As appropriate and as agreed with supervisor, participate in committees, task forces, etc. of the Center or the community
- Exhibit enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment
- Attend all required trainings

Salary Range: $160,000 to $203,800 annually*
Additional Salary Information*:
- All salaries at Jefferson Center are calculated based on years of total relevant experience.*
- The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
