Job DescriptionChair of Psychiatry Position

Our organization is actively looking for a Chair of Psychiatry! This role is pivotal in ensuring that mental health services are developed and managed in alignment with our mission, strategic goals, and overall business objectives. The Chair will oversee the mental health team and guarantee that services are provided in accordance with our policies, New York State regulations, funder guidelines, and established best practices in the field of mental health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Department of Psychiatry, setting the vision and direction for the team.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate clinical programs and services aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes.
  • Facilitate coordination between departments to improve service delivery and ensure continuity of care.
  • Supervise all clinical activities within the Department of Psychiatry.
  • Assess the professional competence of medical staff and take necessary actions when required.
  • Maintain clear communication with departmental leadership, faculty, and staff regarding roles, responsibilities, and expectations, including conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., JC, CMS, OMH, DOH).
  • Develop and implement Performance Improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Manage the financial health of clinical services, including budget oversight, expenses, and revenue generation.
  • Address and resolve patient complaints, emergency situations, and critical incidents effectively.
  • Oversee the training experience for trainees within the department.

Accreditation Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to accreditation, regulatory, and licensing standards that guarantee safe and effective patient care, including OMH, OASAS, The Joint Commission, and the Department of Health.

Qualifications

  • MD degree with Board Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry or Psychiatry.
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid New York Medical License.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $300,000 to $400,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits.

Salary Disclosure

Our organization provides a salary range to comply with New York City’s Salary Transparency law. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, and community needs. Therefore, the final salary may be closer to either end of the range, and in some cases, may fall outside the listed range. The stated salary is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses or benefits.
