Position Summary:
The Recovery Coach will provide support through natural engagement, role modeling and mentoring while inspiring health and wellness for those in recovery from mental illness, trauma, and addiction. Support will be provided through mutually interactive relationships individually, in groups and community levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Encourage others to take personal responsibility for their own wellness and recovery.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude, while treating all peers with dignity and respect.
- Participate in consultative reviews weekly.
- Coordinate/Support peer social/cultural/recreational activities and peer recovery-based groups.
- Community outreach and engagement.
- Provide support with educational and employment goals.
- Maintain records as needed for proper documentation.
- Plan drop-in supportive environment: Coffee, snacks and fellowship time.
- Support during crisis episodes/collaboration with team to promote stabilization in least restrictive environment.
- Health promotion, system navigation and education.
- Coordinate activities that promote healthy lifestyles, self- monitoring, effective management and foster holistic recovery substance abuse prevention, recovery, obesity, and smoking
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Must have cultural sensitivity to diverse populations and work well in a team
- Must understand and adhere to Federal and state requirements for HIPPA, Confidentiality Statutes, and all applicable mandatory reporting laws
- May involve transportation, valid Maine State Drivers License is required
- Possess strong time management skills and have a proven history of dependability.
- Willingness to share personal recovery experiences as appropriate.
- Will participate in regular individual and group supervision
- Must pass criminal background check.
