Nuclear Electrical Systems Engineer (Mid-Level)
Job Description
Job Description
You like complex systems, clean energy, and work that actually matters. At Westinghouse, you’ll apply your electrical engineering skill set to help deliver safe, reliable nuclear solutions. Picture your week in our hybrid model from Cranberry Township, PA: some days collaborating on-site with peers and project leaders; other days diving deep into models and design packages from your home office. You’ll report to the Manager, Large Project Electrical Systems & Equipment and operate at the heart of large-scale nuclear projects.
What a typical project looks like
- Translate intermediate-level engineering knowledge (grounded in your degree and 3+ years’ experience) into practical designs and analyses for nuclear products and projects.
- Open ETAP to validate power system behavior, lean on Mathcad for calculations, and track work and assets in Maximo (or similar tools).
- Produce electrical system designs, instrumentation & controls (I&C) schematics, and system wiring drawings to specification.
- Develop engineering design documents—technical evaluations, obsolete parts equivalencies, calculations, and specifications—to support operating plants.
- Coordinate inputs across peer engineering teams and partner closely with client and site personnel to resolve issues that impact project success.
- Create and maintain plans and schedules so deliverables meet assignment requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of power plant systems and equipment.
- Background in power projects.
- Experience developing procurement specifications for a range of electrical commodities and evaluating vendor proposals.
