Job DescriptionJob Title: Quality Inspection and Parts Runner

Job Description

This role involves assisting Machinists by providing necessary parts and tools, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. The candidate will work closely with machinists and engineers to resolve inspection issues and improve product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Machinists by running and grabbing necessary CNC tooling and fixtures.
  • Conduct visual and quality inspections using basic tools like calipers and micrometers.
  • Ensure parts meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor in-process controls through online control plans, ensuring data collection during machining.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with the quality management system (QMS).
  • Identify and document any defects or non-conformances and ensure proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve inspection-related issues.
  • Ensure all measuring instruments and testing equipment are calibrated and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation traceability.
  • Assist internal stakeholders with the proper set-up and operation of inspection equipment.
  • Communicate issues and propose solutions to improve product quality with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams.

Essential Skills

  • Quality inspection experience.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Understanding of CNC tooling and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Blueprint reading skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform detailed inspections.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and associated software.
  • Experience with vision systems such as Keyence and Micro View.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Flexibility to be a parts runner and adapt to where work is needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chaska, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
