Reports to: Director of Development and Marketing
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Organization: West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) creates opportunities for our neighbors in DuPage and Will Counties to thrive by providing nourishing food and access to supportive resources. WSCP operates in Woodridge where neighbors can shop in person or place an online order to secure groceries. In fiscal year 2024, WSCP provided 3.7 million pounds of food and supplies to approximately 130,000 neighbors. WSCP is a nonprofit organization.
Position Summary: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will play a vital role by supporting and executing WSCP’s marketing and communications strategy with a focus on fundraising and donor engagement. This position reports to the Director of Development and Marketing and works closely with the CEO to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communications Responsibilities
· Create and maintain content calendar for all external communications including social media, fundraising appeals, events, e-newsletters, and promotions
· Write and edit content for website, newsletters, and blog posts
· Design visual content using Canva or similar tools
· Update and maintain website on Wordpress platform
· Track and analyze communications metrics to optimize engagement
· Manage email marketing campaigns and maintain subscriber lists
· Ensure brand consistency across all communications channels
· Manage social media presence across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X) and post content
· Update quarterly marketing reports with key performance metrics
· Maintain supplies of letterhead, note cards, and communication materials
· Capture photos and videos to build the content and communications library
· Develop marketing materials for Volunteer, Outreach, and Support Service initiatives including creation of flyers, invitations, etc.
Fundraising Communications Responsibilities
· In partnership with the Director and the Development team, collaborate on the creation of donor-centric content for stewardship communications including donor appeals, annual reports, acknowledgement letters, etc.
· Design and produce fundraising event materials as needed (invitations, programs, signage, slide show, etc.)
· Support event promotion and communications for 2-3 major annual fundraising events
· Gather and help draft impact stories for donor communication channels
· Maintain donor recognition materials and ensure recognition benefits are provided
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
· 2-3 years of experience in marketing, communication, or related field
· Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
· Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing
· Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
· Strong project management and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
· Experience in the nonprofit sector including knowledge of fundraising communications and donor relations
· Experience with CRM email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Bloomerang or other donor management systems)
· Experience with website content management systems (WordPress)
· Photography and/or videography skills
· Knowledge of SEO and digital analytics
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
· Salary range: $45,000 - $50,000 commensurate with experience
· Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
· PTO includes 10 days off a year (pro-rated based on start date) plus one week off between Christmas and New Year’s Day and 9 additional holidays
· Simple IRA with 3% match
· Hybrid work schedule available after the first 90 days; hybrid schedule to be determined based on WSCP’s operational needs. Some in-office days each week will be required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a computer
· Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
· Ability to attend evening or weekend events as needed (approximately 4-6 times per year)
· Occasional exposure to warehouse environment
