JOB PURPOSE

The Facilities, Transportation, & Safety (FTS) Specialist I ensures safe, reliable transportation services and supports the efficient operation of facilities and safety functions. This position plays a critical role in maintaining clean, safe, and functional environments while supporting individuals with disabilities in transportation and facility-related activities. The FTS Specialist I ensures compliance with organizational standards, safety regulations, and transportation requirements while promoting independence and dignity for those served.


RISE Community Services is seeking to fill two part-time FTS Specialist positions to support transportation, facilities, and safety operations.

Ideal candidate availability includes:

  • MondayFriday mornings:
    • 5:45 AM 9:15 AM or
    • 6:30 AM 8:00 AM
  • MondayFriday afternoons:
    • 2:00 PM 5:00 PM or
    • 3:30 PM 6:00 PM
  • Every 4th Saturday:
    • 8:45 AM 12:45 PM and 4:30 PM 5:30 PM

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Responsibilities:

  • Operate agency vehicles to transport individuals with disabilities safely to community activities, appointments, and work locations.
  • Ensure passengers are securely seated and properly secured.
  • Assist individuals with boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness (interior and exterior).
  • Track mileage and service schedules.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, incidents, and safety concerns promptly.

Facilities & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, cleanliness issues, and safety hazards.
  • Conduct janitorial tasks including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and waste disposal.
  • Assist with room or space setup for activities and events.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • Support minor maintenance tasks and basic repairs as directed.
  • Maintain organized records of cleaning, inspections, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Report incidents, near misses, or safety concerns to supervisors.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside individuals with disabilities, ensuring a clean, accessible, safe, and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with individuals, families, and team members.
  • Successfully complete required employment-related training.

All other duties assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeurs license within 14 days of hire.
  • Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established cleaning and maintenance protocols.
  • Basic mechanical or technical aptitude for minor repairs and inspections.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
  • Ability to operate various vehicle types, including passenger vans.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain records and use office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with individuals with disabilities.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, cleaning agents, and operational environments.
  • Ability to move around facilities and travel to offsite locations as needed. This may include walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of driving and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed.
