Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a Level II Trauma acute care setting requiring active IL RN licensure and ICU trauma experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) serving a variety of medical, surgical, trauma, and neuro patients
- Setting is an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week starting at 7
- Every other weekend coverage required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Participate in holiday rotation with core staff
- Floating may occur, primarily as a 'help all' to PCU or CVICU
- Allscripts EMR system is used
- Unit performs advanced ICU procedures including CRRT (prismaflex), TTM (Arctic Sun), mass transfusions, bedside procedures, and requires titration of common ICU drips
- RNs care for a diverse patient population including trauma, neuro, post-surgical, and critically ill medical patients
- Charge nurse or house supervisor available with supportive nursing aides present
- 24/7 intensivist, hospitalist, and respiratory therapy coverage
- Nurses manage advanced respiratory devices including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
- Orientation includes a 12–14 hour shift with competencies and unit training
- Scrub color is black
- First day includes general facility orientation and computer modules
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active IL RN license required
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS preferred
- At least 1 year of RN experience in ICU within a Level I or Level II Trauma center
- Experience in hospitals with 300+ beds required
- Proven ability to titrate various ICU drips including Precedex, pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedatives
- CRRT experience highly preferred
- Comfort with interpreting ECG strips required
