Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a Level II Trauma acute care setting requiring active IL RN licensure and ICU trauma experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) serving a variety of medical, surgical, trauma, and neuro patients
  • Setting is an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
  • 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week starting at 7
  • Every other weekend coverage required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Participate in holiday rotation with core staff
  • Floating may occur, primarily as a 'help all' to PCU or CVICU
  • Allscripts EMR system is used
  • Unit performs advanced ICU procedures including CRRT (prismaflex), TTM (Arctic Sun), mass transfusions, bedside procedures, and requires titration of common ICU drips
  • RNs care for a diverse patient population including trauma, neuro, post-surgical, and critically ill medical patients
  • Charge nurse or house supervisor available with supportive nursing aides present
  • 24/7 intensivist, hospitalist, and respiratory therapy coverage
  • Nurses manage advanced respiratory devices including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
  • Orientation includes a 12–14 hour shift with competencies and unit training
  • Scrub color is black
  • First day includes general facility orientation and computer modules

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active IL RN license required
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS preferred
  • At least 1 year of RN experience in ICU within a Level I or Level II Trauma center
  • Experience in hospitals with 300+ beds required
  • Proven ability to titrate various ICU drips including Precedex, pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedatives
  • CRRT experience highly preferred
  • Comfort with interpreting ECG strips required
