Position Summary:

The Patient Access Manager is responsible for the supervision of staff, scheduling, maintaining equipment, policy/procedure administration for the staff, interviews, hiring and evaluating performance of staff for all registration areas. Reports performance issues to the Director of Revenue Cycle. Assesses department resource requirements and recommends changes as necessary. Attends daily safety huddle and disseminates all information to staff from leadership. This manager will be a primary example to all staff for proper customer service and lead according to our mission statement and our commitment to co- workers agreement. Oversees the supervision of clinic, hospital, external registration areas as well as switchboards, pre registration and patient transport.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Graduate
  • 3-5 years Management experience is required
  • 3-5 years Experience in all hospital & clinic registration/transport processes is preferred
  • Experience in data entry, word processing, office procedures desirable
  • Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients and visitor

Essential Functions:

  1. Organizes daily work load to maintain efficient flow of department activity: daily activity reports, staffing schedules, variances, etc.
  2. Oversees education coordinator—All registration updates, insurance changes and eligibility, training on/off site will be approved through the manager.
  3. Organizes and prioritizes workload through appropriate delegation of tasks to staff.
  4. Carries out supervisory functions in a fair, prompt, and timely manner. Seeks information necessary for accurate completion of job duties.
  5. Maintains department schedule needs; displays cooperative attitude when schedules are changed to meet the needs of the department and the hospital.
  6. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, and patients. Interacts with respect for the feelings of others.
  7. Customer Service Leader--demonstrates respect and politeness with visitors, staff and others.
  8. Communication skills are utilized to assure clear and concise information exchange between departments.
  9. Ensures that proper policies and procedures are followed in collecting and entering patient insurance information and the pre-certification of admissions, when required.
  10. Understands, interprets and adheres to hospital policy and procedures.
  11. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of the flow of information through the hospital as related to the Electronic Health Record—system super user.
  12. Lends general support to staff in areas that fall within the scope of training and capabilities.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm (additional hours as needed for management positions)

Salary Range: $61,900 annually through $99,000 annually
