Job description:

The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking multiple dedicated and responsible individuals with a kind disposition to join our team as a Part-time School Monitors throughout the district. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive lunch experience for our students.

Vacancies include:

  • 1 - Netherwood Elementary: 11-2PM OR 11:30-2PM
  • 3 - North Park Elementary: 11:15-1:45PM
  • 1 - Violet Avenue elementary: 11:15-1:50PM
  • 2 - FDR High School: 10:00-1:30PM


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during lunch periods in the cafeteria, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Enforce school rules and expectations regarding behavior, noise levels, and cleanliness.
  • Assist students with opening food containers and other lunch-related needs as necessary.
  • Monitor student allergies and ensure students are only consuming their own food.
  • Address minor behavioral issues and refer more serious concerns to appropriate school staff (e.g., teachers, administration).
  • Facilitate a smooth flow of students in and out of the cafeteria.
  • Ensure students dispose of trash properly and maintain a clean eating area.
  • Collaborate with cafeteria staff and teachers to support overall student well-being.
  • Respond to student inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor in a busy environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to enforce rules consistently and fairly.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting.
