Payroll Manager
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager with a strong background in agriculture to oversee and manage our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience handling large, seasonal workforces, including piece-rate/piecework calculations, and be familiar with the unique complexities of Farm Labor Contractor (FLC) operations. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and a deep understanding of compliance with federal, state, and agricultural labor laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process payroll for all employees, including hourly, salary, and seasonal agricultural workers.
- Ensure accurate calculation of piece-rate/piecework pay, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, as well as agricultural labor regulations.
- Oversee payroll reporting and reconciliation, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Partner with HR and management to address payroll issues, inquiries, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain employee payroll records and audit for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit reports to management, auditors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Train and supervise payroll support staff
- Work closely with Farm Labor Contractors to ensure compliance with contracts and payroll documentation requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of payroll management experience, with a strong preference for agriculture industry experience.
- Knowledge and experience with Paycom payroll system preferred.
- Proven ability to calculate and manage piece-rate/piecework payroll.
- Strong understanding of FLC operations and compliance requirements (preferred).
- Knowledge of California wage and hour laws and agricultural labor regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with employees, contractors, and management.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary: $65,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience.

Requirements
- Proficient in English; Bi-lingual Spanish required
- Have a flexible work schedule
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills required
- Must have the ability to work independently, multi-task and attention to detail
- Ability to learn new software
- Ability to communicate and work well with co-workers, and other department supervisors/managers
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience:
- Agriculture: 3 years (Preferred)
