About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team at DSWD, a reputable CPA firm with offices in Frankfort and Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, tax, and financial reporting, with experience serving a diverse client base. This role involves managing client engagements, supervising junior staff, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end close processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
- Previous experience in a senior accounting role within a CPA firm environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Experience working with Registered Investment Advisory firms a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Strong experience with reviews and compilations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide insights on financial performance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff to enhance team capabilities and efficiency.
