Public Health Educator
Job Description
The Monroe County Health Department is hiring a Public Health Educator 2. This position involves the delivery of health-related educational programs and services for the regional and local health department. The work activities include counseling clients on basic health information in one-on-one or group settings and assessing clients’ general health status. This is a full time Monroe County Health Department position. The position may also travel and work 2-3 days per week in the surrounding counties. This is very responsible work involving the delivery of health-related educational programs and services for the regional and local Health Department.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement evidence-based health education interventions and programs to address chronic disease prevention and management
- Collaborate with community groups to provide professional guidance and support
- Facilitate public health workshops, trainings, and community meetings
- Evaluate program effectiveness and adapt strategies to meet community needs
- Communicate public health initiatives effectively through written materials and oral presentations
- Coordinate with local agencies and stakeholders to advocate for health education funding and resources
- Maintain accurate records and reports to track program outcomes and compliance

Education Requirements:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in health education, biology, or a related field and experience equivalent to one year full-time professional health education work.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional experience in health education may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional qualifying graduate coursework in health education, biology, or related field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for year basis, to a maximum of one year.
Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.
