Collaboration. Authenticity. Connection. Balance.

At Cohere, we believe community is the most valuable amenity.

We do more than manage communities-we help create places where people connect, belong, and thrive. By partnering with some of the nation's most innovative master-planned communities, we create places residents are proud to call home and where meaningful relationships flourish.

We're looking for a Community Engagement Director to join our team at Four Seasons at Carolina Oaks, a vibrant 55+ community in the heart of the Lowcountry known for resort-style amenities, high-touch service, and an active calendar of experiences that bring neighbors together. Located just minutes from Hilton Head Island, Savannah, and the May River, the Bluffton and Hilton Head region is one of the Southeast's fastest-growing active adult destinations.

In this highly visible role, you'll lead the strategy and execution of community events, programs, and resident communications. You'll shape experiences that reflect the warmth and authenticity of the Lowcountry while creating opportunities for residents to feel welcomed, connected, and actively involved in community life.

This is an opportunity to pair big-picture creativity with hands-on execution-leading a robust engagement calendar, strengthening communication channels, developing resident leaders, and building partnerships that make the community experience even stronger.

If you're a relationship-driven leader who can turn ideas into memorable experiences while keeping strategy, logistics, communication, and budgets moving together, we'd love to meet you.

Why People Choose Cohere

Highlights Include:

  • Employer-paid dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Pet insurance options
  • Employee Assistance Program with mental health, financial, legal, and family support resources
  • Travel assistance and identity theft protection
  • Complimentary will preparation services
  • Generous paid time off
  • 16 paid holidays each year, including a Birthday Day and Volunteer Day, in addition to PTO
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

What You'll Do

Lead the Community Engagement Strategy

  • Develop and lead a thoughtful engagement strategy that brings the community vision to life through meaningful programs, experiences, clubs, volunteer opportunities, and signature events.
  • Create and manage a robust annual calendar that reflects resident interests, supports community goals, and builds authentic connection.
  • Use resident feedback, participation data, and emerging needs to evaluate programs and continuously strengthen the community experience.

Bring Events and Experiences to Life

  • Plan and execute high-quality events and activations from concept through completion, including timelines, logistics, staffing, setup, vendor coordination, and follow-up.
  • Identify, vet, and manage vendor and community partners; negotiate pricing and agreements and secure required permits, insurance, waivers, and documentation.
  • Balance creativity with strong operational discipline to deliver experiences that are welcoming, memorable, financially responsible, and aligned with the community brand.

Lead Resident Communications

  • Develop and execute a multi-channel communications strategy that keeps residents informed, engaged, and connected.
  • Oversee resident-facing content across digital platforms, calendars, newsletters, websites, community hubs, and other communication channels.
  • Ensure communications are timely, accurate, engaging, and consistent with the voice and identity of the community.

Build Relationships and Resident Leadership

  • Cultivate trusted relationships with residents, volunteers, committees, local businesses, creatives, nonprofit organizations, and other community partners.
  • Develop systems that encourage resident participation, strengthen clubs and groups, and empower volunteers and resident leaders.
  • Serve as a visible host, storyteller, and ambassador who creates an atmosphere of hospitality, energy, inclusion, and shared ownership.

Manage the Business of Engagement

  • Develop the annual program of work and associated budget, monitor expenses and financial results, and identify creative solutions that support long-term sustainability.
  • Coordinate across community operations, leadership, marketing partners, and Cohere colleagues to align engagement efforts and share best practices.
  • Promote community standards through clear communication, education, and relationship-building while maintaining a high-touch resident experience.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in community engagement, event planning, hospitality, marketing, lifestyle programming, or a related field.
  • Proven experience planning, executing, and evaluating high-quality events, programs, or activations from concept through completion.
  • Experience developing and executing resident, member, customer, or community communications across multiple channels.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, budgets, programming logistics, and event-related documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation, and public-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically while remaining willing and able to execute tactically in a hands-on role.
  • Creative, organized, and detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage several initiatives and deadlines at once.
  • Experience working with volunteers, committees, clubs, resident leaders, or other stakeholder groups is strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving active adult, lifestyle, golf, resort, waterfront, master-planned, real estate development, hospitality, or residential communities in the Southeast is highly valued.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work a generally Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed for community events and programs.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation for off-site programs, meetings, and community partnerships.
