Job Description

Job Description
Founded in 1975, the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) is a pioneering social enterprise with deep roots in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities of the East Bay. We serve diverse populations by creating healthy, safe, and vibrant neighborhoods through community-centered development.

EBALDC generates over 75% of its revenue from earned income, operating across real estate development, property management, social services, and professional consulting. Our work spans corporate programs, subsidiaries, and partnerships with both public and private sectors.

We believe lasting change starts with the people who live in our neighborhoods. Through leadership development, network building, and co-
designed solutions, we equip residents with the tools to shape their own communities—unlocking collective power for long-term impact.

Summary

At EBALDC, we believe stable homes are the foundation for thriving communities. The Portfolio Financial Analyst helps make this possible by ensuring the financial health and operational excellence of our affordable housing portfolio. This role isn’t just about crunching numbers — it’s about partnering with leadership to influence decisions, improve systems, and create cost savings that directly support residents and neighborhoods across Oakland. As our Yardi expert, financial storyteller, and process-improvement driver, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping both the day-to-day success and long-term sustainability of our portfolio.

What You’ll Do

  • Dive deep into operating statements and cash flows, surfacing insights, risks, and opportunities that inform big decisions.
  • Lead budgeting and capital planning, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and alignment with EBALDC’s mission.
  • Track key portfolio metrics — occupancy, collections, expenses — and make recommendations to strengthen performance.
  • Be the go-to Yardi expert: troubleshoot, train, and partner with IT and vendors to deliver custom solutions.
  • Standardize vendor contracts, streamline processes, and introduce cost-saving initiatives that drive efficiency.
  • Partner across departments — from accounting to asset management — to strengthen systems and reporting.
  • Jump in on special projects that move the organization forward, from workflow automation to portfolio reviews.

You Might Be a Good Fit If…

  • You love connecting data to impact — numbers are your toolkit, but your real talent is helping leaders make better decisions.
  • You’re an Excel wizard who can build models that tell a story, not just spit out formulas.
  • Yardi (or similar systems) feels like second nature, and you’re excited to help others use it better.
  • You see inefficiencies and can’t help but design a smarter, faster way.
  • You’re comfortable moving between the details (variance reports, reconciliations) and the big picture (budget strategy, portfolio performance).
  • You thrive in mission-driven work, and the idea of making affordable housing stronger gets you fired up.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, real estate, or property management operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, scenarios).
  • Strong project management and cross-departmental collaboration experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Yardi (reporting, troubleshooting, customization).
  • Experience in affordable housing, real estate finance, or portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Office 365.
