Title: Program Analyst -- Communications Manager
Location: Washington, DC Harry S. Truman Building (Main State) or State Annex 5 -- On-Site; some international travel may be required
Education Requirement: Master's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
Clearance/Citizenship: US Citizen; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, active Secret preferred
About this Opportunity
Inalab has an immediate opening for a Communications Manager to support the Department of State's Expo Unit. The Expo Unit organizes U.S. participation at overseas Expos (also known as World's Fairs) and mobilizes international support for U.S. candidacies to host Expos.
Duties Responsibilities
- Develops and implements the Expo Unit's strategic communication plan.
- Maintains and develops relationships with domestic and international media outlets (digital and physical), responds to media inquiries, prepares press releases, conducts media training.
- Develops and manages Expo Unit's online presence.
- Acts as webmaster and social media manager in accordance with international best practices.
- Responds to internal requests for information and provides or coordinates unit clearance on internal Department memoranda.
Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- Master's degree in Public Relations or Communications (or related field).
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience working in public relations, communications, or related field.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships within and outside the Department.
- Knowledge of public affairs principles and the role of media in shaping public opinion.
- Proficiency in using digital communications tools and analytics and the ability to manage Expo Unit's website and social media.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Detail and deadline oriented.
- Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management.
