Job Description

The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the startup and operation of the hot mix asphalt plant. This involves placing raw aggregate and liquid asphalt materials through the mixing drum to be stored in silos until ready for loading onto trucks for delivery to job sites.

Duties:

  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment and culture
  • Operate plant and load trucks
  • Work with Quality Control Department to ensure a quality mix is produced
  • Assist Asphalt Plant Manager in ordering materials needed for plant operation
  • Assist Asphalt Plant Manager with stockpile management
  • Maintain all required paperwork
  • Communicate with road crews on an hourly and daily basis
  • Assist with plant maintenance
  • Operate loader when needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness of the plant site
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in asphalt production
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Computer skills to include but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, and email within a network environment
  • Maintain positive attitude
  • Complete responsibilities in a congenial and collaborative manner with co-workers
