Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead the financial operations of our organization. The Controller will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and overseeing job cost tracking, including WIP accounting and job consumption. This role is essential for maintaining financial accuracy and operational efficiency, particularly in a project/job-cost-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

Prepare and analyze budget-to-actual reports and financial forecasts.

Coordinate with external auditors and manage annual audit processes.
Job Costing & WIP Management:

Manage job costing processes to track labor, materials, and overhead associated with specific jobs/projects.

Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate revenue recognition based on project completion.

Review and reconcile WIP balances monthly, investigating and resolving variances.

Oversee job consumption entries to ensure materials and labor are properly allocated to jobs.

Collaborate with project managers and operations to provide timely cost and profitability analysis.
Operational & Strategic Support:

Provide financial insights and reporting to support business decisions and project profitability.

Improve processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy of job cost tracking.

Partner with senior leadership to develop financial strategies aligned with business goals.

Assist in pricing, quoting, and bid analysis by providing cost-based input.
Team Leadership & Development:

Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Develop and implement training and policies to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or similar role.

Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP, and inventory/job consumption principles.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Business Central, Zoho).

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial reporting tools.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience in manufacturing, construction, engineering, or other project-based industries is highly desirable.
Work Environment:

Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday.

Hybrid/On-site depending on company policy.

Occasional extended hours during month-end or audit periods.
