Team Penske is seeking a Fabricator to join the Underbody Group, responsible for installing, setting, and scanning race car underbody panels to exact aerodynamic and performance specifications. This role works closely with the aero and competition groups to ensure precision and repeatability while contributing to continuous improvement in quality control processes. The ideal candidate has hands-on fabrication experience, familiarity with metrology tools and scanning equipment, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced racing environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, set, and scan race car underbody panels according to engineering and aerodynamic specifications.
- Gather and prepare all required parts, fasteners, and materials for assembly.
- Compare measurements to CAD models and report results to engineering and competition groups.
- Document procedures and techniques to ensure consistent training and repeatable processes.
- Provide ideas for continuous improvement in fabrication accuracy and quality control.
- Collaborate with the aero and competition teams to refine fitment and optimize underbody performance.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area while adhering to Team Penske’s safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with common fabrication tools and techniques.
- Experience with quality control procedures and metrology equipment such as portable CMMs and light scanners.
- Comfortable using computers and digital tools for measurement, documentation, and communication.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of motorsport vehicle structures and materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-performance environment.
