Job Overview: McLean Pharmacy is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Part-Time Pharmacist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for dispensing compounded medications, offering Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, and providing expert advice on nutrition and dietary supplements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in MTM, as well as a solid understanding of nutrition and how dietary supplements can support patient health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately and efficiently dispense compounded medications based on prescriptions, following all regulatory and safety protocols.
- Provide Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, including medication reviews, assessing drug therapy for potential interactions or side effects, and making recommendations for optimization.
- Counsel patients on proper medication usage, adherence strategies, potential side effects, and any necessary adjustments to therapy.
- Advise patients on nutritional supplements, vitamins, and other wellness products, ensuring they complement prescribed therapies and align with patients’ health goals.
- Monitor patient health and medication regimens to improve therapeutic outcomes.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to develop personalized medication and wellness plans for patients.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all medication dispensing, MTM activities, and patient interactions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, especially in pharmaceutical care, MTM, and nutrition.
Requirements:
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Licensure: Active and valid pharmacist license in Virginia.
- MTM Experience: Proven experience in providing Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services is required.
- Nutritional Expertise: Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary supplements, and how they interact with medications to support overall health.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
- High attention to detail, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications.
- Certifications: MTM certification (preferred). Nutrition-related certifications (such as Certified Nutrition Specialist, Registered Dietitian, etc.) are a plus.
Working Conditions:
