A registered nurse with operating room expertise is needed for a contract opportunity at a prominent medical center in Lees Summit, MO. This role offers a chance to work in a dynamic surgical environment, providing critical perioperative nursing care to support patient safety and positive outcomes. The assignment includes day and night responsibilities on a 12-hour variable night shift, with floating and weekend duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care in the operating room in accordance with established protocols
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams to ensure smooth procedures and patient comfort
- Monitor patient status pre-, intra-, and post-operation, responding promptly to changes
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
- Assist in preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of two years of RN experience with operating room proficiency
- Valid Missouri RN license, along with current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to float as needed and commit to every third weekend schedule
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced surgical setting
- New graduates are not eligible for this role
Schedule:
- 12-hour variable night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Weekend rotations every third weekend
- Floating responsibilities as required; no on-call
The role requires completion of an Occupational Health appointment, including drug screening, TB test, and physical evaluation approximately one week before start date. Start dates are scheduled around ORI sessions in early or late January.
