Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for reporting and photographing news for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Seminole Tribune newspaper. The incumbent in this position travels across all STOF reservations and other areas to gather relevant information related to news, activities and events occurring within the reservations and other areas; develops factual stories and produces articles or multimedia for publication in The Seminole Tribune. The Reporter is also responsible for editing stories, posting photos and stories on The Seminole Tribune's website and social media platforms, and assisting with layout. The individual also organizes material, determines slant or emphasis, coordinates material with designated freelancers and writes stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.


High school graduate or equivalent GED is required. Associate’s degree or certificate from a technical school in related field is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of related experience working as news reporter is required. Prior experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress and social media operations is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license is required. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate strong organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel to all Seminole reservations and facilities, and to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
