DPS is now hiring a Pharmacy Technician for a Hospital Facility in Austin, TX. Dean's Professional Services has partnered with healthcare facilities, government organizations, and corporations to provide job opportunities.

Pharmacy Technician Job Details:

Schedule: 9:00pm - 07:30am (Days vary) - 7 on 7 off

Location: Austin, TX

Temporary to hire

Starting Pay Rate: $33.46 hour + (based on experience)

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation, compounding, repackaging, filling, and delivery of medications in a hospital setting.
  • Support dispensing activities for patients across all age groups (pediatric through adult).
  • Assist with the procurement, storage, record keeping, and distribution of controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
  • Enter and verify patient information (diagnosis, weight, allergies, body surface area) accurately in the pharmacy computer system to support appropriate dosing.
  • Prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique and infection control standards.
  • Complete annual aseptic technique and infection control recertification with a minimum score of 90%.
  • Ensure medications prepared are accurate and verified by a pharmacist, maintaining a high standard of dispensing accuracy.
  • Perform batch, medication, and prescription order entry with demonstrated competence.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies in collaboration with Pharmacy Support Services.
  • Follow formulary and non-formulary procedures, including proper labeling, dilution, and expiration dating.
  • Obtain required pharmacist initial and final checks in accordance with department standards.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (RPHT-TX) or Pharmacy Intern license (PHAR INT).
  • CPHT (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • MUST have 2+ years of current experience (Required).
  • MUST have IV certification and recent clean room experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital and departmental standards for handling pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong math, reading, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
