Overview

JST is currently seeking a Communications Security (COMSEC) Operator to support our security team in maintaining cybersecurity services and solutions for securing and protecting sensitive data within a government environment. The COMSEC Operator will perform corrective and preventative maintenance on COMSEC equipment as well as install, configure and manage security applications. Lead all documentation efforts specific to COMSEC and related responsibilities.

Communications Security (COMSEC) Operator Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on COMSEC equipment
  • Baseline configuration management, loading KEYMAT, fault isolation, etc.
  • Support keying/re-keying of the KSV-21 cards and vIPer Secure Phones at the TS Level
  • Provide expertise and deployment of firmware upgrades to COMSEC devices to include TACLANES, ViaSat products, and secure phones
  • Setup, configuration, and management of GEM One to track General Dynamics based COMSEC devices such as TACLANES and vIPer phones
  • Account Consolidation of COMSEC accounts
  • Develop and test Advanced Cryptographically Capabilities (ACC) compliance
  • Provide support for gathering information and developing reports
  • Identify and respond to system/equipment/procedure problems
  • Perform on-going updates to operational documentation as required to ensure compliance with applicable policies and directives, and to reflect operational environment
  • Performs asset management; orders, distributes, accounts for, destroys and otherwise manages all COMSEC materials required for voice, data, and video transmission
  • Support the development of documentation, as part of a collaborative effort in a supporting or a backup to the KOAM function/role
  • Lead efforts for development of documentation that is specific to the Technician function/role

Communications Security (COMSEC) Operator Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • 2+ years of experience within a COMSEC or similar role
  • Completed KMI Training
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Must be very organized
  • Highly motivated
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required

Required Clearances and Screenings

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance is required
  • MUST be able to successfully pass a drug screen and background check
