Position Summary:
The Permitting Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating the permitting process for architectural projects across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires a deep understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting procedures. The ideal candidate will work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate permit submissions and approvals.


Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Coordinate and manage the preparation and submission of permit applications for architectural projects.
• Research and interpret local, state, and federal building codes, zoning ordinances, and permitting requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Lawrence Group and permitting authorities.
• Track and monitor the status of permit applications and proactively resolve issues or delays.
• Maintain accurate records of all permitting documentation and correspondence.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding permitting timelines and requirements.
• All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.


Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/commercial fax machines, and filing cabinets.


Physical Demands
This position requires no minimum ability to lift, bend, or stand.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary.


Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.


Professional Skills/Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or related field OR relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience in permitting or code compliance within the architectural or construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Bluebeam, and permitting software platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with commercial, multi-family, and hospitality project types preferred.

Reports to: Project Manager or Senior Architect
