Heavy Equipment Operator – Civil Construction
Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate / salary (based on experience)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our civil construction team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating heavy machinery in earthwork, utility, road, and site development projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, rollers, and articulated dump trucks
- Perform earthwork, grading, trenching, and material placement per project plans and specifications
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and utility markings
- Work closely with Superintendent, foremen, crew members, and other operators to meet project schedules
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite procedures
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil or site construction
- Proficiency with GPS/machine control systems (preferred)
- Strong understanding of grading, slopes, and elevations
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
- Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
Preferred Skills
- Experience with underground utilities (water, sewer, storm), site work, grading, bayou erosion, rip rap applications, sheet pile driving
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
