Position Overview
- The Authorization Representative will be responsible for processing and tracking authorizations primarily for Orthopedic procedures/surgeries. This role requires strong familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes and direct experience in an outpatient or medical office setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with authorizations (must be clearly shown on resume)
- Experience with CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and orthopedic surgery/procedure authorizations
- Minimum 1-year recent experience in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
- Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CS-Link/Epic
- Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation (Work Comp) claims
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patient relations (in-person and by phone)
- Greeting patients, address concerns, and escalate issues as appropriate
- Perform patient check-in/check-out, collect co-payments, issue receipts, and reconcile payments
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information in CS-Link/Epic
- Schedule appointments and manage complete patient registration
- Submit, process, and track referrals and authorizations for various insurance types
- Handle patient and provider correspondence in a professional manner
- Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients.
- Maintain and sanitize workspaces in accordance with departmental guidelines.
