Job Title: Marine Pipefitter - $27 - $32/hr, prefer local but open to travel
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Marine Pipefitter to join our team. This role involves the repair, modification, installation, assembly, removal, testing, flushing, and troubleshooting of shipboard and industrial piping systems and related equipment. The ideal candidate must adhere to a range of technical standards and safety guidelines while working independently and interpreting blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Repair, modify, install, assemble, remove, test, flush, and troubleshoot shipboard and industrial piping systems and related equipment.
- Adhere to applicable documents, references, and safety guidelines including ABS, MIL STD 777E, and MSC General Technical Requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints for guidance in the fabrication, repair, installation, and testing of marine piping systems.
- Install and maintain ships' piping systems such as steam heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines.
- Plan layout of pipe sections, ensuring conformance to specifications and accommodating obstructions and holes.
- Cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for the installation of pipes.
- Operate shop machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings including valves, traps, and thermostats.
- Bend pipe to specified shapes using pipe-bending fixtures.
- Bolt or weld pipe brackets to support pipe systems and connect pipes to fixtures such as heat exchangers, pumps, and tanks.
- Repair, pack, and adjust valves.
- Test installed systems for leaks and ensure that they meet specifications.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in pipefitting, blueprint reading, silver brazing, and marine piping systems.
- Ability to fit and braze.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work packages.
- 4-5+ years of experience as a pipefitter in a shipyard.
- DBIDS eligibility.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with fabrication, fitting, installation, and brazing of marine piping systems.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and U.S. Coast Guard Standard Items.
- Ability to work independently and follow technical standards and safety guidelines.

Work Environment
Work will be performed aboard the USS REAGAN. The environment demands adherence to stringent safety and technical standards, requiring the use of various shop machines and hand tools in a shipboard setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bremerton, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
