Job DescriptionSalary:
The Shop Technician is responsible for the setup, assembly, fabrication, diagnostics, and commissioning of new and used equipment in the SIGMA Equipment inventory. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter, who enjoys working with mechanical and electrical systems, with a basic understanding of PLCs and controls platforms (especially Allen Bradley) to lead troubleshooting, integration, and optimization efforts in a team-oriented, shop environment. This role could require the ability to travel upon request up to 20%.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC systems for new and used equipment
- Support continuous improvement projects by leveraging controls expertise
- Observes functioning of equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of electrical, electronic components and mechanical components
- Strong understanding of electronic and electrical schematics; draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units
- Ability to disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs
- Examine machinery parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear
- Re-assemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from observation to diagnose equipment problems
- Record repairs and maintenance performed in the central database
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Substantial understanding of AC and DC electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Intermediate to High skill level with Mechanical aptitude/ability
- High level of electrical aptitude / ability
- Experience with pneumatics and electricity
- Experience working in an industrial environment
- Associates degree in electronics technology or equivalent certification.
- Basic working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC hardware and software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, PanelView, etc.)
- Valid drivers license

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Travel is required for all shop technicians
