Service Technician / Trailer Mechanic
Position Summary
Silver Spur Trailers is under new ownership and is growing fast! We are adding a service department to our store located in Brush, CO. The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of trailers, including utility, equipment, dump, enclosed, and specialty trailers. This role ensures all units meet safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations. A mechanical background in small engine repair is also desired as we intend to add yard maintenance equipment to our sales inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on trailers and related systems
- Service and repair:

- Brake systems (electric & hydraulic)
- Suspension systems (leaf spring, torsion axles)
- Wheel bearings, hubs, and seals
- Lighting and electrical systems (wiring, connectors, LED lights)
- Couplers, jacks, and hitches
- Hydraulic systems (on dump trailers and dovetails)
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new trailers
- Perform safety inspections and identify necessary repairs
- Install accessories (toolboxes, winches, tie-downs, etc.)
- Complete service documentation and work orders accurately
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with service manager and customers
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with new inventory unloading, new trailer preparation and lot organization
- Follow all OSHA and shop safety guidelines
Qualifications
- 2+ years of mechanical experience (trailers, automotive, ag, or heavy equipment preferred)
- Strong knowledge of trailer systems, electrical troubleshooting, and brake systems
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and standard shop equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience (preferred but not required)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
