Schedule Structure
The team follows a 13-person rotation with equal distribution of:
- Morning Shifts: 0600–1430
- Afternoon Shifts: 1400–2230
- Call Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd call (weekday and weekend)
- Call shifts are 24 hours (0600–0600)
- Key Responsibilities
- Provide perfusion support for elective and STAT adult open-heart procedures, including:
CABG, AVR, MVR, Aortic Repairs, AngioVac, Heart Transplants, ECMO, and acute VADs. - Provide perfusion support for non-cardiac procedures such as:
Liver Transplants, HIPEC, ECMO (VV), and Autologous Blood Recovery. - Provide perfusion support for cardiac support devices, including:
IABP, Impella (CP, 5.5, RP Flex), ProTek Duo, ECMO (VA), CentriMag, and HeartMate 3. - Safely conduct all responsibilities within perfusion scope of practice, adhering to hospital and departmental guidelines.
- Administer medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents under physician supervision.
- Perform equipment maintenance, safety checks, and required documentation.
- Adjust therapy in consultation with attending physicians as needed.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and proficiency with all accessory devices and procedures.
- Participate in ordering supplies, revising policies and procedures, performance improvement, and staff education.
- Support colleagues and hospital personnel to ensure high-quality patient care and positive interdepartmental collaboration.
- Uphold hospital standards by demonstrating courtesy, respect, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude in all interactions.
