Our organization is excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a fellowship-trained, Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurocritical Care Intensivist physician to become part of a highly active multi-disciplinary neuroscience institute situated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The chosen candidate will serve as a Neurocritical Care Intensivist within the hospital and will play a vital role as a physician partner in the Neuroscience Institute, delivering continuous care to patients in the neuro ICU. The Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute has been honored by the American Heart/Stroke Association as a Gold Plus center since 2012 and has also achieved the Target Stroke Gold Plus Elite designation, along with Target Stroke Silver Plus for 2025, and Advanced Therapy recognition for 2022, 2023, and 2025. Additionally, it received the Get With the Guidelines Commitment to Quality Award for 2025, a distinction awarded to only 158 hospitals across the nation.
Currently, the hospital is conducting over 87 active trials and protocols, including those within the Neuroscience Institute.
Located on the campus of Holy Cross Hospital, the facility features a dedicated 20-bed Neuro ICU and a 50-bed neuro step-down unit staffed with specialized nursing for neuro patients. Neurodiagnostic testing, such as EEG, EMG, and EP, is available in both outpatient and inpatient environments. The institute also boasts a level 3 NAEC certified, 4-bed EMU with 24/7 on-site monitoring. Furthermore, there is an Intensive Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) and neuro-focused outpatient services for physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
The call schedule for this position is 1:2, with one neurocritical care intensivist currently in the program. The selected individual will collaborate with this physician to share coverage of the Neuro ICU.
A fellowship in critical care with a focus on neurosciences is a prerequisite for this role.
