Mechanical Engineer – Medical & Life Sciences | Automation


We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer to join our Medical & Life Sciences Automation team! This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys designing custom automation equipment and working on complex, high-impact projects in a collaborative environment.

You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting innovative automated systems used in regulated industries like medical devices, biotech, and pharmaceuticals.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design and develop custom automated equipment and machinery
  • Create 3D and 2D CAD models (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Design sub-systems and stations that integrate into larger automation platforms
  • Partner with Controls Engineers to define automation sequences and safety systems
  • Perform tolerance analysis to ensure system accuracy and performance
  • Develop concept models for footprints, motion ranges, and operator interfaces
  • Produce full engineering documentation packages:
  • Fabrication drawings
  • Bills of Materials (multi-level BOMs)
  • Support risk assessments, safety reviews, and GAMP documentation
  • Collaborate with suppliers for component selection and sourcing
  • Support build, debug, testing, and proof-of-principle activities
  • Mentor junior engineers and support best engineering practices


What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience
  • Strong experience with:
  • SolidWorks (3D CAD)
  • AutoCAD or DraftSight (2D CAD)
  • GD&T
  • Knowledge of:
  • Machine design & custom automation
  • Manufacturing processes & materials
  • Pneumatics and pneumatic schematics
  • BOM creation and engineering documentation
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations:
  • Structural
  • Kinematics
  • Dynamics
  • Familiarity with:
  • FEA (SolidWorks Simulation preferred)
  • Machine safety standards
  • Supplier collaboration and sourcing
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with:
  • GAMP documentation
  • ISO 9001:2015
  • SolidWorks Electrical
  • MathCAD
  • ERP/MRP systems
  • PDM software (SolidWorks EPDM)
  • PE license is a plus
