Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with hands-on experience in gastrostomy tube (G-tube) medication administration and enteral feeding. The LVN will provide direct nursing care and clinical oversight to individuals with complex medical needs in a residential or home care setting, ensuring safety, compliance, and high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications via gastrostomy tube (G-tube) following physicians orders and established protocols
- Perform and monitor enteral feeding (bolus and/or continuous feeding)
- Assess G-tube site for signs of infection, leakage, or complications
- Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MAR) and treatment documentation
- Monitor vital signs and report changes in condition to the physician and care team
- Provide tube care, flushing, and troubleshooting (e.g., clogging prevention)
- Educate and train direct care staff (DSPs/caregivers) on proper G-tube support procedures
- Ensure compliance with Title 22 regulations, infection control standards, and agency policies
- Respond to medical emergencies and implement appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the State of California
- Minimum 12 years of experience with G-tube medication administration and feeding
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of infection control and medication safety
- Experience in RCFE, ARF, or home care settings preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Work Schedule
- Flexible shifts available (Day / Evening / Overnight)
- Weekend availability may be required
