Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Specialist to ensure a safe and compliant work environment within our organization. The Construction Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and policies, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment and compliance with OSHA regulations. This role is crucial in preventing accidents and promoting safety culture across all operations, particularly in heavy construction and earthwork projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
- Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Perform regular safety audits to ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure preparedness for emergencies by developing and implementing emergency response plans.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols on construction sites, focusing on heavy construction and earthwork operations.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with management to improve safety performance and promote a safety-first culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction or heavy earthwork.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication and training skills to engage employees effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve safety goals.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites as required in ME or NE, overnight travel may be required.
- Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, CHST) is preferred, and HCCS is a plus.
